Week 10 Weekly Blog

I had a pretty awesome week.We finally moved Into our building so I am super excited.Our building Is sweet It has nice labs,bathrooms,and everything.My buddies and are going to have a blast.Let's go Freshmen!!!!We have a nice view of the campus because of all the windows.This year will be a great year us moving Into our building and being able to have a little bit more freedom.That's Fantastical I love It.

The Digital Literary was "What are some tips for limiting data collection."Teaches us how to avoid cookies,ads,and possible viruses.This Is good because before this I did not know that companies store your Information,and sell your email address to other companies.I really enjoy learning about how to prevent viruses,ads,and etc.Ads are a dread I do not like them at all.Here are some tips for limiting data collection:

• Don't provide your email address to mailing lists unless you need to do so
• Avoid using the same website
• Don't download search engine tool bars
• Unsubscribe from list servers
• Limit the number of times you click ads
• Avoid "Too good to be true" Products

Week 10

This week we learned that we were going to move into our new building on November 1st. After waiting for like four months.This week was not such a good week for me. Hopefully next week Is better.I wonder what we are doing to celebrate moving into our building.

We are still working on our DDL websites.Trying to get It finished so we can get a grade on It.This Is a good website to learn how to be safe online,respecting others,and other ways to be careful while your on the web.It shows you a lot of videos that give you examples of online problems and how It has changed the world the past few years.

The Web 2.0 was Glogster.Instead of a a regular view of your power point you get a visual view of your presentation.I think It Is a way to do presentations.It has different text boxes,you can search Images,videos,and etc.Has all sorts of things you can do to make your poster the best It can be.

Week 8&9 of GECHS

This week was pretty good to an extent.We are still doing those corrections for our partners blog.This week instead of doing all of the corrections we chose two things to correct.And posted the links on Schoology for the teacher to grade it.So we could get a grade on It.

This week's digital literacy was Cyber bullying.And we wrote down some terms.

 We also made a new account.It's called WeVideo and we get to edit videos.And smash the videos together,add music,graphics,and all kinds of stuff.It has It's our audio,sounds,graphics,and transitions,and videos.

Made a video and told why it was to bad to bully people.And methods to stop De-escalate bullying.Methods for the Up-stander and for the person being bullied.I use to be bullying all the time.So you guys/girls who are being bullied I know how you feel.Makes you feel like less of a person,or frustrated,depressed,angry,hurt.Bullying Is bad so If you see someone being picked on stand up.Because one day you might need someone to stand up for you.

Take a stand now just for the person being bullied do It for yourself.You will feel good In the end for being a Up-stander.This week and last week had a very powerful message.Every year hundreds maybe even thousands of teens kill themselves because they were being bullied.This is serious so please don't take It for a joke when you call someone names,laugh at them,or physically hurt them.

Shawn 7th week of school

This week was mostly about learning to do the right thing.And to think about the consequences before sending a explicit picture.Our Digital Literacy for this week was sexting.and how it can mess up your reputation and the way people look at you.It also affects your If you plan to get a job,or future career.

If someone tells you to send a explicit picture of yourself tell them no.You will be glad you did It In the end.Your picture can be spread around the school,social websites,or maybe even to your own parents.Be careful of the dangers of sexting It can hurt you a lot If you don't think about It before you send that picture.

We also learned some new words.
Self-Disclosure-Sharing private,Sensitive,Or Confidential Information about yourself with others.
Reciprocate-Is to give In return.
Sexting-Sending or receiving Sexually explicit photos or texts or other digital devices.
Be careful of the Information you put out on any social network.Because you could end up being kidnapped,robbed,or stalked.They can also track your phone and where you live.

Our Web 2.0 for this week was make belief comics.It Is good for making comic strips to help you understand the what Is going on.And you can put different characters,places,objects,and etc in the comic strip.It's bad because their Is a limited amount of pages you can use.And you might not get your point through like you might want to.

My week was not that good because I found Out Monday my uncle died of heart failure.That really got to me and affected my school week.I went over my Aunt's house Wednesday to see how she and my cousin were doing.They are holding their spirits high but I know Inside their hearts are mourning.

Shawn's Post ''The Family Man''

First I would like to say this week was pretty interesting.It had It's bad and good days.But It was a pretty good week.Learned about ways to digital literacy evaluating websites.And took notes on them.

Found out how to classify bogus websites from real websites.And to read the whole page and other pages to see some Ideas of Is It fake or not.The websites almost got me and Mrs.paysuer had already told us they were fake.If i was a adult they would probably get me on those websites.Their pretty good tricksters.

Made definitions for a couple of words we needed to learn about.Wrote why we should evaluate and how to evaluate.Created a Mind-map to give your classmates as well as ourselves a better Idea of what It Is.Put pictures on there and a little bit of Information.

Got some notes from the IRIS website.It's good website to get notes for evaluating.I didn't see anything bad things about It.The website helped me get a better understanding of what we learning about.And how to classify them from each other.

Got to spend time with my loving,caring family.My and my little brother played basketball.I liked the fact that we spent time together and did something we both love to do.Without all the fussing,or fighting with one another. I love my family and will do anything for them.

Went to a cookout with my daddy's side of the family.Ate fries and chicken while the adults got steaks.Meet some of my younger cousins that are probably one to eight years old.Nice to see them growing up,going to school.When i spend time with them it reminds me why i want to be a good influence.Because if you do something bad they are going to think they can do it also.So that is why i try my best to right so they can have a positive role model.

5th week of school

This week had it's ups and downs. But i managed to overcome this obstacle and many more to come.The fifth week of school we a digital license assignment it helps us learn about how things should be handled online so that is good.I see none thing bad about the digital license.Also took a test about digital etiquette.And appropriate times when your phone should be going off.And the right times when it should go off.Saw some more peoples Animoto and saw their creativity.

The class learned that a young adult actually killed herself because of cyber bullying. Also how it can affect peoples lives and their feelings.We should not cyber bully people because it's not right.Nobody should have to go through that but i know people do anyways.I would never cyber bully because i don't want it happening to me.Everyday somebody somewhere has to put up with jokes people do just to get a laugh.They should make a cyber bullying law because this is ridiculous.

Found technology articles that we wanted to blog about and posted and commented on it.And talked about how it can and would impact the world.These are the type of products criminals are likely to try and steal.Because they are going to do is keep it or sell it for money and other stuff.

Respecting people's privacy and asking before tagging them in a picture. If the person does not like the picture just delete it.Or upload a picture without them in it.Because it saves a lot of time for you and less drama.

Worked on our creative commons worksheet which is privacy today public tomorrow.And how a woman was accused of drinking because the picture heading stated "Drunken Pirate". Also how they did not want to give her a bachelor degree because of that.

We learned about a Web 2.0 tool that helps Photoshop pictures.I see no good things in this website.Here is the link below.The bad part is people can edit your photos how ever they want it to be.

4th week,And it"s Fannnnnnnnntanstic

This week has been fantastic.We have learned so much stuff about laws.We got the chance to make a animoto and make a video.Wrote down sentences,learned how to break them down.Animoto is a good tool for presentations and things like that.And helps you use photos to make a powerpoint.

But it takes a lot of pictures to really make a understanding of it.Also had the chance to make a library card.The digital component we used was the digital citizenship website.Tells us how to be responsible online,and respect others privacy.The digital citizenship helped me understand how i am suppose to handle online situations.

The digital citizenship makes me want to help other people and tell them what they should post online about other people. Then the Animoto helped me get a better understanding by putting the pictures with the words and have a song play with it.It will also help with new presentations with other teachers.I will not get online as much because the internet can get you in a lot of of trouble even if you don't want it to.People post things about other people they don't even know and it should be changed the way they handle things.

I like learning about ways i could better myself online.And how to handle different situations when that pops up.How you can help people understand how others privacy should be respected.I will tell people how to be more responsible online and to ask people if they can tag them in pictures,or blogs. How to stop yourself from being seriously hurt,or hurting someones feelings by what you safety on the internet.

I also think that Animoto would be good for Elementary/Middle school kids.Help them learn how to present things while they are in the process of making presentations.I now have a better understanding of how i should respect peoples privacy.We learned what on the day of 9-11-2001.And how many people lost their lives.I honor to rescue men and woman who gave their lives on the day of 9/11/01

Third week of GECHS

My week was awesome and exciting.We studied for our stems retest and learned new definitions.Also learned with RSS feed is about and how it works.Learned also how to prevent getting viruses and how to not be fished.I enjoy being here making new friends.Being with these wonderful,and supportive teachers.

We learned how to use Google Reader and make folders.Google Reader
Positive things you can keep your files organized and arranged.Negative i see none at the moment.
It helps me be able to find my files without being worried,or scared i lost it.Also helps my grades by me being able to send the assignment through Email or just hyperlink it.

I like this school because it gives us a chance to grow more as young adults.i also like how the teachers ask you how is your day going or how are you doing.And how we have time to play on our phones,play music,and get on Facebook.Can't wait to get in our building and see it and join some of the clubs they have.I love Forensic Science how we actually get to solve crimes.

Week 2 of GECHS

I think the Gaston Early College program has made me better already.I am waiting for our building to open up.The switching to gets aggravating but i still like being here and also meeting new friends.This environment is so awesome you get to be around college adults.We have horrible laugh but i know it's going to get better.I'm going to have a lot of homework for 2nd semester.

I hope when we get into our building that we have clubs,pep rally's,and other events.I love my teachers because they work so hard to help us and are nice.I ecstatic that i made into this school.I hope i make my parents,family,and friends proud.The part i like most is after five years we get a associates degree for free. I don't mind getting up early in the morning it is worth it if when your going to college for free.We wrote about copyright laws and made a prezi to present about copy right laws.and learned how to not break the law.
